"Our 3 sons love going to Miss Helen’s Private School! They are all excited to go every morning and love all the teachers and staff. We like it because they are getting such a diverse learning experience. Our preschool twins come home everyday spelling their names, talking about ballet and tap class, and they say all their colors in Spanish. Our first grader not only gets a great core education, but he also does coding, gardening, Bricks4Kids, and he’s starting music lessons. Sending our kids to Miss Helen’s has been great for our family!"

"Both of my daughters attended Miss Helen's. When they entered public school they were way ahead of their class. Loved the teachers and staff at Miss Helen's couldn't have asked for a better start to their education. Each child is an individual at Miss Helen's when it comes to their education. Whatever is best for the child is the way my children were treated."

Michele Family

"Our son is in pre-K and we are absolutely amazed at all that he has learned in just his first 6 weeks. We are so grateful for Miss Tara & Miss Kelli!"

Ramirez Family

"MHPS is such an amazing school. My daughter is completely in love with the school and it’s teachers and so are we. They have great values and a phenomenal education program that is worth the private school tuition. Peace of mind is what MHPS gives us. Knowing that our daughter is in a safe and caring environment and will be prepared for her future is such a relief!"

My son has thrived here since the first week he started. He immediately showing that he was learning so much. At just barely three (three weeks after he started here), he started pointing out shapes in random objects: Pointing at a pizza and saying, “Mommy, that’s a triangle!” We love the teachers and administrators! Everyone has been very warm and welcoming.

"We have been at Miss Helen’s since my child was 3 in sunshine kids. She is now in 1st grade. We have had a great experience. I feel like my child is safe, loved, and mentally challenged. She has learned Spanish in addition to her regular curriculum. You feel like you are part of a family."

Boyington Family

"Both my boys went to MHPS and loved it. They went on to public school and excelled with the foundation they received at MHPS. I would highly recommend this school and they still talk about the manners class and how much they learned. I also attended MHPS back when it was located off 31st and Harvard and have fond memories."

Pitts Family

"My daughter has been at MHPS since she was 3 years old and absolutely loves it! Their elementary program includes many things you don't get at local public schools (daily Spanish, computers, etc) for a more affordable price than other private schools in the area. Before and after care is included in the monthly tuition as well! I love the small class sizes and that all the teachers know her and say "hello" in the halls! You feel like you are part of a family here!"

Ertugrul Family

"Sending our daughter to Miss Helen’s for Pre-K has been the best decision for our daughter and family! To say this is a phenomenal school would be an understatement. My daughter has learned and grown so much in just a few months-I cannot imagine by the end of the school year. She is excited to go to school every day and loves each and every teacher and staff member that she knows. They are simply the best!! You won’t find another school like this one!! We are so blessed and thankful to be a part of Miss Helen’s."

Barker Family

"MHPS is a phenomenal school! It is filled with teachers and staff who have a deep and genuine love and concern for their students! I was blessed to have both of my sons be a part of this wonderful community! If you are looking for a place for your kiddo to receive a well-rounded start to their education this is the place!"

"This is our 3rd summer attending Miss Helen's. I can only rate the summer curriculum as my step-daughter lives in NJ during the school year. We enrolled her to eliminate the extended departure from academics over the summer that can result in summer learning loss. She was so disappointed to attend "summer school" the first year when she found out we enrolled her. THEN...she got there and loved it. Now she asks to back in the summer! Since we live in Claremore, it is a bit too far for us to commute every day so she attends 2-3 days per week. But she wishes to go every day! She still gets her core academic subjects in the morning and gets to do fun Camp-like activities in the afternoons. It is the best of both worlds! I wished we lived closer. The last summer she will be able to attend is this upcoming summer. We aren't looking forward to that!"

"We love our little school! The kids learn at their own pace and get lots of individual attention. It's a year-round school and the hours are great, especially if you are a working parent. The education my son is getting is top-notch and I know he is cared for at Miss Helen's. I can't say enough good things about this school and highly recommend it! Check it out if you are looking for a fantastic education and great environment for your child!"

Le Family

"We're so grateful for Miss Helen's! My daughter always felt like it was "home". The class sizes were small and she learned everything from computers to music to Spanish/French and even cheerleading from 3 years old all the way through 5th grade. It's a very well-rounded education! When she graduated from 5th grade, she was completely prepared for middle school at Holland Hall. The teachers really paid attention to all the little details of learning with my daughter. At her 5th grade graduation, my daughter said this, "A school is built with brick and mortar but Miss Helen's is built with love and care."

Bhatwal Family

"Love this school! My son is turning out to be such a mannered and smart kid by going to Miss Helen's!"

Scott Family

The teachers care about education and the class sizes make it easy for them to teach."

"I have two kids at Miss Helens Private School as this school year ends tomorrow. My daughter is finishing 4th grade, my son is finishing 1st grade. Both have been going to MHPS since preschool. With MHPS only going through 5th grade, we decided to transition our daughter to a different school (that goes through 8th grade) this upcoming school year. We decided to move our son as well since it made more sense for us to have them both at the same school for drop offs and pickups. Over the years, Miss Helens was a great school for us: -The small class sizes meant that my kids got a more personalized education as compared some schools with much larger class sizes. I felt like the smaller class sizes allowed us to get to know the other kids and their parents better. I know that my daughter has made friends over the years that will carry on even though they won't be at the same school any longer. -MHPS administered the Iowa state test at certain grade levels once a year, but it was for informational purposes to help the school fine tune their curriculum, help the teacher identify what difficulties that the kids were having, and as information to the parents. There wasn't any "high stakes" testing that you get in the public schools. -The tuition is very reasonable for a private school. The tuition covered early drop off (as early as around 7:15am) and late pickup (I think as late as 6pm) as well as lunch. You won't find a better price anywhere for a private school. Having these extended pickup and drop off times helped a lot since my wife and I both work. -The school director is always available by phone, text, or school messaging with anything that pops up. -More importantly, with a school this size and the smaller class sizes, the staff and teachers are like family to us. We felt like we got to know each other over the years. We are certainly going to miss seeing Mr. Gary and Miss Lynda around the school in the afternoons! -We are very glad for the years that my kids spent there. As part of the admission process at their new school, they were tested. My daughter tested at pre-honors in math for 5th grade(their highest level for 5th grade) and my son tested at a 2nd-3rd grade reading level. They both received a great education here at Miss Helens."

"My son has been at Miss Helen for 8 years. The teachers are outstanding and extremely caring of the students entire learning experience. My son has maintained a high level of education in every year. Elementary is excellent and push the child on areas of strength while working on areas of weakness. Classes include English, Math, Science, Social Studies, Spanish and French, Computers, Art and PE. Lunches and snacks are included in price. Drop off time starts at 7:30am with a late pick up of 6pm without an extra charge. Love this School and the whole staff. They love your kids, teach your kids and care for your kids like they are their kids."

"WE LOVE IT! We looked at several options and went to Victory Christian for a couple of years. Now in our second year, I agree that there always bumps in the road for parents who are involved in their child's education, but they are smoothed out and I feel like the quality of education is stellar. I think it is a better school than the Holland Hall types that charge two to three times more tuition. My son loves the extra activities and the daily Spanish lesson is great. Did I mention how much better my child eats because of their family style approach to lunches and snacks? Wonderful."

"We've had our daughter enrolled at Miss Helen's for 3 years and have never failed to bring it up to anyone interested in options for child care or any kind. They offer classes all the way from 3 years old to elementary.

Their curriculum seems pretty solid in pre-K (only direct experience I have so far). They have a standard developmental test every year for pre-K to make sure all of the normal developmental stages are coming along, but beyond just what do they teach - every student of theirs I've ever come across has always bright, polite, and interested.

They manage to pack as much activity as they can into their school also. Dance is a standard feature in their preschool grades and you can add on computers or swim at any age. During the summers they have a bunch of other optional activities for sign up that has been a great way for us to sample other local activities as they partner with other providers for karate, sports, etc. during summers.

Then on top of the quality their drop-off and pickup hours are pretty generous. As early as 7:30 AM and as late as 6 PM without additional fees.

The staff is always just the nicest as well. Always communicative, always let us know everything we'd want to know. I think the main staff knows every kid and parent on sight and every teacher seems to at least know every kid within a few grades up or down from them at least."
