Miss Helen's prides itself on offering full academic sessions year round. Our Academic Session starts in mid August and is completed in May. Our Summer Session begins after the Memorial Day holiday and concludes in August. Students may arrive at school as early as 7:30 AM and remain until 6:00 PM without incurring Before or After care charges. Uniforms are required in all sessions and are available only through C&J Uniforms.
Our daily schedule begins at 8:30 AM for Preschool and Kindergarten and 8:00 AM for the Elementary Grades. Academics are a critical part of the morning routine and the afternoons are filled with theme reinforcing activities. Recess is taken throughout the day as well. A snack is served at mid-morning and mid-afternoon for all children.
For those children in Kindergarten and Elementary, periodic field trips are taken throughout the year. These trips also include an opportunity to dine out at local area restaurants. These excursions are taken on charter buses and parents are always welcome to attend.
The summer term is optional for our students and flexible schedules are available as well. Children may attend month to month, limited days a week or full time. Regardless of their schedule, academics remain a priority, but with some added summer themed activities. Math and reading programs continue to reinforce the achievements of the Academic Session and water play is provided one day a week throughout the hot summer for some extra fun. Additionally, special lessons such as gymnastics, soccer, tennis, golf, karate and drawing are offered throughout the summer for an additional charge.
Swimming lessons are offered throughout the regular academic year through Miller Swim School . Children who swim all year are proven to be stronger and have healthier bodies. Weekly attendance on a year round basis is important not only to enable students to learn and retain good swimming ability, but also to increase their self confidence and to develop their social skills by sharing the pool with other children. Miss Helen's staff members accompany the children to and from this lesson.
CompuQuest offers computer classes to all age levels at Miss Helen's. Once your child is in the Elementary program the daily computer class is included in the tuition. Compuquest utilizes creative, age appropriate computer educational software to promote computer literacy by grade level for Preschool thru 5th grade.
In addition to daily classroom Spanish instruction, private lessons in French and Spanish are also available on site for our students. During these sessions students are taught the basics of grammar and conversational language by Miss Adelina Frasco in a one-on-one setting. Miss Adelina is a native of Spain who immigrated to France as a young child and has ultimately found her way to the United States and Miss Helen's Private School.
Miss Helen's proudly offers a cheer squad to its girls. In order to participate in cheer lessons, girls must be 4 years old as of September 1.
The performance squad, consisting of Kindergarten and Elementary girls, has several opportunities to cheer throughout the year within the Tulsa community. They have performed at the Tulsa 66ers' games, the BOK Event Center and at the UMAC. The cheerleaders practice weekly to develop dance routines and fine tune their performances. GO MHPS!
Our tuition is comprehensive and all inclusive. Our students may arrive as early as 7:30 AM and stay until 6:00 PM without incurring additional charges.
